Workshop 1 (6/14 - 6/20)

OT Overview and Beginnings

As we begin our study of the Old Testament we need to first set the context behind the Old Testament - the history, the people, the beliefs, and the culture. The Bible project videos and short chapter by Collins will help acclimate you to this context. Then you will read the first 11 chapters of Genesis and see how the Jews portrayed their origin story.

Workshop 2 (6/21 - 6/27)

God’s Redemptive Plan through Abraham

Last week we saw how it all began - both the creation of the world, but also the introduction of sin and the consequences of sin into the world. The whole Bible can be portrayed as a very long answer to a very simple question: What can God do about the sin and rebellion of the human race? Genesis 3-11 posed that question and the rest of the Bible tries to answer it. The call of Abram is the beginning of God’s response to the evil of human hearts, the strife of nations, and the groaning brokenness of his whole creation. As God works out his promises through Abram and his descendants, we encounter a God who refuses to give up on His creation.

Workshop 3 (7/5 - 7/11)

A Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation

After leaving slavery in Egypt, the Israelites arrive at Mt. Sinai where God met with them to tell them how they needed to live so that his presence could dwell among them and so that they could fulfill God's promise to Abraham. The tabernacle was built and the priesthood prepared so that God could come and take up residence. Leviticus provides instructions for purity and holiness so that they can continue to enjoy the blessing of God that his presence brings.
