Online Student Expectations
At GLCC student are held to high academic standards and expectations in and out of the classroom.
You will notice that our minimal standards are listed in an assignment, but to receive 100% you need to go above and beyond those expectations in your work and participation.
Discussions:
Due to the fact that you are not sitting in a classroom where a dialogue can be had about course topics, Discussions are meant to mimic that setting in our online programs. This means you are encouraged to post and engage in your Discussions just like you would in a physical classroom. This looks like…
- asking questions about your professor and other students’ posts,
- adding positive feedback or comments as responses,
- and demonstrating comprehension of the topic in your initial post.
All Assignments
In each of your online courses your professors aim to help you grow spiritually and academically, tying your faith back into your assignments. In all of your discussions, papers, responses, etc. you will be required to…
- cite the Bible as well as your textbook,
- and include a list of sources (Bible, textbooks, and any additional resources you used to research) at the bottom of your post.
Each course will have resources to help you learn how to do this correctly to the school’s formatting standards and your professors will also help guide and correct you as you learn how to cite consistently. This is important not just so that you remain academically creditable, but so that you do not accidentally plagiarize in your work.
