This course is an introduction to the principles and practices of preaching. Students will gain a basic understanding of the nature of homiletics and how it relates to the primary role of the minister. The student will also use this knowledge and understanding to prepare and deliver sermons in the classroom setting.

This course is a comprehensive study of the essential elements of Christian counseling from a ministerial point of view. Some of the topics will include the nature and purpose of ministerial counseling, the therapeutic relationship, counseling techniques, the use and Scripture and prayer in counseling, emotional health and spiritual maturity, boundary issues, legal obligations, the referral process, and counseling in crisis situations.
